A pet peeve: not removing the “stay” stitching for pleats and pockets. Sometimes pleats and pockets may be tacked down for shipping (a little stitched cross). Once you get that garment home please remove the stitching. You, and I, will be so much happier especially because you will be able to use your pockets!
Linen is a beautiful fabric that gets better with age – if you like linen that is. Linen will always wrinkle. Any stress on a seam will wear and show over time so you should never wear linen snug. Lining or a slip can help but linen feels so nice against your skin it seams a shame to do that. If the garment is even close to being snug you should limit activities like riding your bike when you are wearing it. Wear it for what it is and not for what you want it to be.

Joyce and Judy love to use snaps for a “snappy” little closure. The best way to undo a snap is to slide your thumb nail between the two snaps and it will pop open. The worst way to open a snap is to tug on your jacket until they open – you could tear the fabric.
A trick we learned from models is using a baby wipe to remove deodorant marks. Always test in a hidden area, like the inside of a hem, to make sure it won’t mark the fabric. All fabrics are different and we cannot guarantee that it will be safe for all fabrics.
Pilling is caused when there is a strong fiber and a soft fiber side by side, plus friction. If you notice that pilling is starting you should think about why it is happening: is the belt you’re wearing too rough? is your shoulder bag always on the same shoulder? Sometimes the balls can be gently picked off, sometimes they can be cut off (be careful!), sometimes there is nothing you can do. Bummer.
/?php the_excerpt(__('Read more'));?>One of our favourite tricks for maintaining a wardrobe is the “Baby Powder Pile”. If you ever find that dreaded oil stain, before washing, lay the garment down and pile the oil spot with baby powder. Leave over night and in the morning just brush away – ta-da – the oil has vanished! 9 times out of 10 this works.
